So for everyone who hasn't seen it yet: Murdoc said on twitter that he wasn't actually crying, it was acting. In order to act like he was crying, he thought of all the horrible things that he did do his friends and how ashamed he is of himself So, he basically acted like he was crying but he actually cried.

When you take a nap, but everyone already left to get dinner, so you're just wandering around the house trying to figure out where everyone went and what year it is, but you give up an go back to sleep

I never thought I’d see Murdoc crying on a couch, I guess this means that Murdoc feels like he isn’t needed anymore, feels like he doesn’t have a purpose for the band now that everyone has moved on, and maybe he feels bad for how he treated everyone like crap. Holy shit I’m actually being sympathetic for Murdoc oh my god I feel bad for him.

Can’t believe it’s been three years since this came out, this was definitely my favorite song from the song machine. Phase 6 was a great one. Crazy to think this came out right before the pandemic got bad haha.

I understand why Murdocs sad, and it was more than just the boat trip. The song and visuals represent the band not needing Murdoc to be with them anymore. Murdoc is realizing this and hides in his box Murdoc centered his whole life around this band, he has no other interests, (a good) family, or friendships outside of it He literally sold his soul for these people, but then they realize they didn’t need him to begin with. He has nothing left and that’s what’s sad.

Murdoc being too sad to open the door really hits differently. He's scarred to face them and hope the they will come back to him but ends up just going back and giving up on ever being part of Gorillaz again Never thought i'd feel bad for Murdoc but here we are

Gorillaz NEEDS to be in the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame, their contribution to music is just outstanding. Not and overstatement by any means, when the time arrives, they need to be there, I truly believe they already reached that level some time ago.Blending so many genres and constantly churning out fresh material speaks volumes.I wish them their best through this journey called life, and I am happy we all get so share it in the present, even if for me just means connecting to the music they release.

I'm genuinely heartbroken from seeing Murdoc cry for the first time ever It's such a character breaking moment that it was almost a shock as well

The game has totally changed. 2D having his greatest escape in mind, while Murdoc suddenly got an existential crisis. That's one of the best plot for the show!

I love how in this song, the bass is quieter than other of Gorillaz's songs. I can still hear it, but compared to a song like Feel good inc. or Clint Eastwood, it's more subtle, letting other instruments shine for once. And that for the most part, the bass is low compared to the song in general. It's doing it's own thing while the other instruments do theirs.

Murdoc is crying because he listened to the Kidz Bop version of Feel Good Inc.

Theory: Murdoc is crying because he realizes the band doesn't need him to make music. I wouldn't really connect heavily to 2d. Everyone says that, but it's probably more with the fact that he controlled most of the band and its decisions (when it came to music at the least) at almost everytime. Even when he was in jail--Ace was a good friend and he told him to. Now he feels as if they don't need him and honestly a deeper thought without the band he's nothing.

I feel like this video is really more of Murdoc realizing the things that he’s done wrong in the past and feeling sorry for himself. Because “desole” translates to “sorry” so maybe it’s Murdoc thinking he’s sorry to all of them for putting them through the things that he did, and now all of them are grown and able to handle themselves and he is depressed because he feels like they don’t need him anymore

Thank you gorillaz for making me discover fatoumata!! Her voice is amazing and I love the way she sings, it’s very non-western and different. As a middle eastern I had blast listening to her such a talent!!

imma be honest seeing murdoc upset actually hurt like he's been through a lot and i hope we see a good turn around for him and the group can have harmony again. friend break ups are tough, even if its justified.

So my friend found out why possibly murdoc was crying: Everyone probably thinks this is what happened but like When Murdoc woke up, everyone was already heading outside. Boyo walked downstairs and when he creeped into the hall, the door was closing. This is because 2D was going downstairs. 2D then went outside, and Murdoc was downstairs just as soon as the door was closing. The green boyo looked over just to realize he was hearing music. In the video it shows him leaning against the door to listen and he hears the band playing without him. This is what gets the him. The guy pretty much made the band and now they're going off making music without him. It upsets him and he may start to believe that the band doesn't want him or he feels that he's not needed and the band can manage without him. After all, he was gone for the entire album The Now Now since he was in jail, and they managed fine with a replacement. So this is what pushes him to the edge and he starts to cry but shortly after closes himself back out from the world by going back in the case)

Weirdly melancholy and nostalgic but in a way also euphoric. Maybe its just best to describe this song as incredible. So good

Noodle wearing those gloves means literally one thing: Gorillaz doesn’t need Murdoc anymore, she can do what he used to do. I feel bad for him, even if he was an asshole before.

"Tous mes fantômes sont bleus" translates to "All of my ghosts are blue." Yup. This is a Murdoc song for sure.
