I can't explain it fully, but something about the instrumentalism and the nature of this song FEELS like you're on a boat going down a river in a brisk wind on an overcast day. They nailed it.

Well, while everyone else is over analysing, I prefer to be happy with the little things, like the fact Blur’s Magic Whip album cover is hanging on the wall at 3:22 😍 This song would work perfectly on that album too.

So for everyone who hasn't seen it yet: Murdoc said on twitter that he wasn't actually crying, it was acting. In order to act like he was crying, he thought of all the horrible things that he did do his friends and how ashamed he is of himself So, he basically acted like he was crying but he actually cried.

Murdoc is coming down from his momentary bliss. No one wants to be around to clean up after him.

I never thought I’d see Murdoc crying on a couch, I guess this means that Murdoc feels like he isn’t needed anymore, feels like he doesn’t have a purpose for the band now that everyone has moved on, and maybe he feels bad for how he treated everyone like crap. this is the first i've ever heard of Fatoumata. she's incredible! her voice is so mature and absolutely carries this song. i love all of the Gorillaz collaborators, but she adds such an amazing vibe.

I understand why Murdocs sad, and it was more than just the boat trip. The song and visuals represent the band not needing Murdoc to be with them anymore. Murdoc is realizing this and hides in his box Murdoc centered his whole life around this band, he has no other interests, (a good) family, or friendships outside of it He literally sold his soul for these people, but then they realize they didn’t need him to begin with. He has nothing left and that’s what’s sad.

I feel like this video is really more of Murdoc realizing the things that he’s done wrong in the past and feeling sorry for himself. Because “desole” translates to “sorry” so maybe it’s Murdoc thinking he’s sorry to all of them for putting them through the things that he did, and now all of them are grown and able to handle themselves and he is depressed because he feels like they don’t need him anymore

Gorillaz NEEDS to be in the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame, their contribution to music is just outstanding. Not and overstatement by any means, when the time arrives, they need to be there, I truly believe they already reached that level some time ago.Blending so many genres and constantly churning out fresh material speaks volumes.I wish them their best through this journey called life, and I am happy we all get so share it in the present, even if for me just means connecting to the music they release.

this song gives me the vibes of a cold day at the beach, where there is no sun at the sky but clouds, yet none of them will make it rain.

I've seen the doc swim in a tub of filth, I've seen him float through space, I've even seen him taking a piss on MTV Cribs but the real shocker image is of him curled up and crying on the couch! No words except I really love this new song. Very mellow.

This feels like 3 first albums combined. Has vibes from Gorillaz, Demon Days and Plastic Beach. Even from The Fall. Amazing piece of work.

Just got to see Fatouamata Diawara live in Vancouver, BC recently; her joie d’vivre comes out in full glory in-person. What a soul!

Noodle: Arrived in a package in self titled album era. Resent herself in a package in Humanz era. 2D: Woke up in a piece of luggage in plastic beach. Murdoc: Got out of a gear equipment box. Got back in. Does the band just like ship themselves everywhere? Is that how they travel?

Nobody talking about how beautiful Fatoumata's voice is. She makes it sound so easy and the huskiness of her voice contrasts 2D's smooth and soft voice perfectly.

This is an interesting turn for Gorillaz. When the new album didn't feature Murdoc very heavily it was interesting because I kept expecting the entire thing to take such a heavy turn back towards Murdoc and his twisted setup, but it seems like since the end of Plastic Beach not only has 2-D really started to control his own life but the band as a whole has migrated away from having Murdoc involved. I won't say it's bad as Murdoc has canonically always been a sort of Chaotic Evil ideology that seems to generally make a mess for the band more than help it, but he is still part of the band and I think this song and the entire ideology seems to be the band's way of saying "we can accept you back in time but you have to realize we do not NEED you to be something great. We've all grown while you're still stuck on land". In a way this song really feels like one for those finally coming into their own. They don't need to hang on to the past, that doesn't mean they should throw it away, but it isn't necessary anymore. It has done its job. And honestly within the story of Gorillaz this really makes sense. Murdoc sold his soul to make a band incredibly popular. that doesn't mean he had to be a part of it...

Weirdly melancholy and nostalgic but in a way also euphoric. Maybe its just best to describe this song as incredible. So good

My step dad died by his own hand in April of last year and once I was crying at work and a car parked by me absolutely blaring this song. Now I can't think of anything else when I hear this song. "Desole While everyone on the move Trying hold on to you" :(

Theory: Murdoc is crying because he realizes the band doesn't need him to make music. I wouldn't really connect heavily to 2d. Everyone says that, but it's probably more with the fact that he controlled most of the band and its decisions (when it came to music at the least) at almost everytime. Even when he was in jail--Ace was a good friend and he told him to. Now he feels as if they don't need him and honestly a deeper thought without the band he's nothing.

3:10 hits a bit hard when you realise we've never seen Murdoc actually cry about something serious. He feels left behind. He's not angry, he's not pouting, he's not doing what we'd expect typical Murdoc to do; he's crying. He's alone.
