I'll throw this over here too, since not a lot of these threads seem to get substantial responses but folks seem to get how off the vibe is: OKay, SO, at this point this was a ruff one for the monkeyfam, with Murdoc in prison, there wasn't someone to boss 2-D and Russel around as much as before. It meant 2-D could follow more of the electronic music production that he had always been pushing for, but the grungepop/UK Punk that Murdoc brought was kind of overpowering. Noodle is kinda zen with anything so long as there is some musical energy to vibe with, but her role has been more and more diminished in recent years, all the more overshadowed by bringing in Ace, who hasn't got much of a break since Powerpuff, so he is totally on to the electrics because he's trying to make a statement in the band--he doesn't want Murdoc coming back even if he's outta jail, he wants the nu-wave. 2-D's on board, Russel is jazzed because he doesn't need to channel a single spirit for a song like this, and the drumbeat is really easy, so he's almost on vacation back there. Noodle is going through and internal crisis, hence the hair-dying (overblown, but been there done that) and she knows deep down something is wrong with this setup, which we know to be the case because you can see how much happier she is in the recently released "Momentary Bliss" back in the studio with all the old classic rowdyboys. Probs not a 100%, but should answer most people's questions about the character expressions in this vid as related to the music.

the song is mostly bass so I think that's more of Ace's influence.

So it appears that Murdoc, or at least this portrayal of the character, has difficulty determining what other people appreciate as compared to what he appreciates, because these things directly contradict each other. So it wouldn’t be unjustified to assume a situation like this occurred before the filming of this song, as Murdoc appears pleased throughout the entirety of it, although that may just be because he’s playing his bass, which is something we can assume he also enjoys doing, because he continues to do so throughout the album.

But at the same time murdoc was the one keeping 2D in check so he doesn't get cocky and stuck up. And while he was in prison 2D DID become a bit of a little shit as seen in the song humility and since murdoc wasn't there and ace didn't care and for as far as I'm concerned encouraged 2D's behavior the rest of the band has to take action that's when at the end of the song Russ kinda snaps 2D back into reality by tripping him. So in conclusion while 2D hates how murdoc treats him (as do I) he still kinda needs him around to make sure he's not getting to full of himself
