This is gonna be a weird comment. But the peace in helplessness makes me think of Pucci and Dio’s heaven plan (i told you it was gonna be weird) just because thats the whole plan, once people have seen their fate and know how they will die, they can be in complete peace in knowing what will happen and the things they can accomplish until they die. Its a weird comparison, but i think it’s somewhat fitting with the original comment’s description of the song.

“I’ll wait to be forgiven, maybe I never will. My star has left me” If Murdoc actually wrote these songs I think he would be writing about Noodle being missing and the whole El Mañana incident, and he knew it was his fault so he felt horrible about it. It really hits me in the heart knowing he sees her as a daughter..
@hannahmorales3054
@hannahmorales3054 6 жыл бұрын
I went on Genius to look at the lyrics and it says that Murdoc wrote it. And the meaning behind the lyrics is he wants someone who doesnt think alchohal is the answer to come and save him. And when he's with this person the alcohol in his system makes him question whether or not she's really there with him. When the lyrics say "left me to take the bitter pill" and "just dont know if I could roll into the sea again" he's saying he doesnt know of he can deal with all these emotions or go through that pain again. This isnt all in order but I hope it helped a bit...

I just think thats why it's called plastic beach. You get so comfortable in your depression it becomes a home you never want to leave. You try to be okay with it til you realize you are walking on a plastic beach where nothing is wrong because everything is fake. Seeing the reality of it all and waking up to find yourself surrounded by garbage alone. They don't make music like this anymore, whole albums that serve an artistic purpose more than a monetary.

When I first started listening to this song, I had just started up a relationship with a new girlfriend, first love in a very long time. As that relationship panned out, the copious amounts of love and emotion, the two of us almost suffocating each-other with how much time we spent together... It was all so foreign to me at the time. Being in love is a great feeling, believing that you can truly rely on someone else in the world, someone that actually understands you and can relay emotions you never really knew you had. That feeling is addicting... That love is what we binged... Much like the high of any drink or drug you can imbibe, love can grab a hold of your life and when that love is slowly dwindling... sluggishly fading.. it's devastating to see it drained. This song speaks about this feeling, loving someone so much and then watching that love die before your eyes and trying to cope with the withdrawal. In this case with the song, the woman feels chained to her partner she's looking for a way out of the relationship, she's lost feelings for him, he's not the person she imagined him to be and so now she wants to move on and find someone else to fit her needs and is only stringing him along because she still feels those vague feelings she once knew but knows it's a pointless cycle. The male vocalist is on the other end of this, he knows he's screwed up whether it was his own fault or something about himself he just could not change, he feels for his partner and knows that his forgiveness will very likely never come, his girlfriend is a husk of what feelings she used to show, he knows she's lost interest in him and he knows he's only lying to himself thinking things will get better with her. He's afraid to lose her because he's binged on her love and has become dependent on her emotionally. Going from being in a relationship that you're really invested in, to just having to abandon everything with that person, essentially invalidating all of the emotions you've felt, the conversations you've had, the memories you've shared... is one of the most isolating experiences a person can deal with. You feel like you need that love again to even function in life, some people quickly rebound back into another relationship after breaking up, not really caring about who their partner is or if any of their actions matter, they crave that high that love can give you... they've become addicted and will eventually binge again. In my former relationship, that love was a drug I grew dependent on. It may not have even been either of our faults as to why the relationship crumbled but that feeling of just seeing your partner lose interest in you, not forgiving you for something you as an individual simply cannot be, those sleepless nights where you'd just spend hours enjoying each other's company, experiences you've shared and memories you've had just fading into nothing.... Leaving you stranded all alone on your little island at sea to try and pick up the pieces of the boat you once had and realizing that they took half of those pieces with them. Wondering night after night if you're brave enough to try and fix the rest of the ship by yourself and set sail again... or if maybe it's not even worth the risk of dealing with that pain of having that ship torn in half once more... This song is beautiful and it's a testament to anyone who's ever had to deal with a bad break-up before, hitting both sides of a failing relationship perfectly and showing the real emptiness one can feel when their ship starts sinking.

This song reminds me of a friend of mine that committed suicide. I'll try to make it short: My friend moved away and ran into the wrong crowd. She became addicted to drugs and lost everything because it. "Waiting by the mailbox, by the train Passin' by the hills 'til I hear the name" Not sure if these will be one-to-one, but feel like this descripts her addiction. Always waiting for it to come. "I'm looking for a saw to cut these chains in half and all I want is Someone to rely on" Pretty obliviously, but she didn't want to be addicted. I tried to be someone to rely on, even though I lived miles away. "I'll wait to be forgiven Maybe I never will" After her death, I blamed myself for not doing more. I thought I could've done more to stop her from killing herself. I cried and lost sleep. Her funeral was held over 300 miles away and I couldn't make it. Took me about a month before I realized there was little I could have done to stop her. "I'm caught again in the mystery You're by my side, but are you still with me? The answer's somewhere deep in it, I'm sorry that you're feeling it But I just have to tell you that I love you so much these days" She called the night before it happened. She said she was tired, but she might have been high. I couldn't tell, so I trusted her (one part of the blaming myself). The last thing she said to me was "I love you man". I still remember it to this day. I just needed to get this out. Thinking of her, I keep blaming myself for not doing more. But if there is an afterlife, I know she wouldn't want me to do that. If you read this, thank you.

My condolences, I too have felt guilt after my bird passed away, I could’ve done better and I could’ve begged my parents to take him to the vet cuz he was ill and bleeding. I could’ve spent more time with him but I didn’t at all the day he passed. We both feel like we could’ve done better but it’s never entirely our fault, we wanted them to live. I will forever miss Riff. Again my condolences and lots of love

I just came across this song, im in tears. After giving this a few plays, im left in tears. This song reminds me of my early childhood, my parents got me two kittens after graduation of daycare (according to my aunt) named Finn and Casey. When i was going through tough times like when my parents divorced they were there for me. A few years passed, I am now 14 (yes I may be a little young) and Finn had died to cancer two years ago, and Casey had ran away, And this song also reminds me of when I was young and carefree, but now im a lousy teenager who hates their mom, but this song made me change my mind on her.

I'm 63 and somehow got listening to "Demon Days", my go music ...Stones, T.Heads, Santana, Focus, Floyd, Joplin, K.Bush, XTC, so quite a mixture. The whole of Plastic Beach is perfectly constructed, with so many different genres and styles, I think every single person who appreciates music would find something in it. Just the use of vocals are sumptuous!

I think what really makes a song a song for me is the lyrics, and damon is something else when it comes to writing those. But even then some people just like listening to the vibe of the song, outkast's hey ya being a good example of a song which isn't famous because of its lyrics but its "happy" vibe. Idk why I wrote this comment, because all I'm saying is that you're absolutely right

In August of 2020, I met a wonderful artist on instagram. They reached out to me to tell me they liked my art and i should keep it up, those words began an amazing rollercoaster of a friendship. There was troubles to the point of attempted suicide from that friend and i supported through the after effects and became one of their best friends over 2021. By the time April rolled around this year, we'd fallen in love and decided we should be together. The times i had with them are the happiest moments of my life, with gifts sent by mail in between. By force and by no choice of our we lost contact and over the next month he'd fallen out of love for me in August and i felt so lost. After i realised it was over for us, i cried to these words in song on a plane back home. Shit hurts, but i'll cherish what we had and if you're in the same boat, it gets better man.
