I was a medium tier fan of Gorillaz. And had only listened to about half of their songs and that was enough to make me want to go to a concert. Turns out they came to Arizona so I bought foot tickets for just shy of 200$. They played so many songs including tomorrow comes today. But then Damon sat down at a piano. The stage went black and a spotlight lit him up. Then this song started. The first pass of the piano keys caught me off guard given it was my first time hearing it. Then a woman behind me pushed her way up between me and someone else and I go “my bad was I blocking your view?” Given I’m 6’2 and she seemed to be a foot shorter. She answered “yeah sorry it’s just that this is my favorite song and I really have to see him sing it” and so now she’s just in front of me and I’m listening to this song for the first time ever seeing her standing there with absolutely every fiber of her body trying to absorb the song as much as possible. Then the heat drops and everyone just goes wild. I mean the whole show was amazing and this was definitely one of the highlights. Eventually after the show she had turned around before I got a chance to leave and look for a friend I came with who got separated from me and asked for my number. We’ve been talking and she’s a cool person in the end. Hearing it live versus when I came home to listen to it again. It just, I’m glad hearing it In person was the first time I had heard it and it was definitely a beautiful experience:D

this is so beautiful that i nearly cried. I had this exact same feeling as her. Every day i wish i could hear it for the first time again. Lyrics: Oh, joys arise, the sun has come again to hold you Sailing out the doldrums of the week... The polyphonic prayer is here, it's all around you It's all around you, out here And if the whole world is crashing down... (on you) Fall through space out of mind with me Where the emptiness we leave behind on warm air rising Blows all the shadows far away The falling of the whole empire, is here to hold you Rolling out and haunted till it sleeps Little memories, marching on Your little feet, working the machine Say will it spin, will it soar? My little dream, working the machine Soon, like a wave, empires will fall And closing in on you, they're going on Little memories Your little feet, working the machine Say will it spin, will it soar? This song is especially poignant during quarantine. Two years out of college, living alone, and now jobless I am stuck at home constantly contemplating what kind of "machine" I want to work with my little feet, and if it's even worth it. Ultimately this song is about suicide/the will to live for me, and to get up every day with nowhere to go and still try to make something of the day is hard. But every week or so the ruminations over life are temporarily washed away by my dreams. This song both makes me sad, and motivates me to keep going.

@@p0mpilius , let me put a qualifier on this. he has some songs where a lot of the time there is a very ungroovy, abrasive drill and bass part. then comes in a smooth, moody keyboard/synth jingle that, in contrast to the drill and bass part, feels amazing. the hardness of his songs makes the grooves even more powerful. i honestly initially hate most of his songs, but then when i realize what it led up to, the whole thing is amazing. the best example of this is his album "druqks".

This song is my all time favourite song and has been ever since I played it , the first time I played it I started crying , its so beautiful and sweet but has this touch to it that just makes it 100 times better , the melody is so calm and then it just turns into something thats upbeat but still beautiful and calm and Little Dragon's voice just matches perfectly, I cant imagine what this song would be if she wasnt the one to sing in this . Gorillaz dont even have one song that disappoints me , they're an amazing band and Ive known them ever since Demon days first came out . El mañana is another perfect song , its upbeat but still has a feel to it that makes you feel so calm . Plastic Beach just has to be my favourite Gorillaz album and one of the reasons it is is because of this song , if this song wasnt in the album , I think it would've been empty . I always sing this song in school and my bestfriend gets so mad , but she'd understand why if she'd actually listen song even once .

I don't know about you all, but being an artist who only wants to live by herself, the only place I've ever wanted to live, I've even dreamed of this place, and money might have to be included to make it real, but... I've always wanted to live in a small house on a rocky Oceanside on a grassy hill, with a black and white striped lighthouse neighboring the small house, being my art studio and light. Whenever I hear this song, it brings me back to this scenery of that small house on a grassy hill, waves softly rolling below. Thank you Damon, Murdoc, Stuart, Russ, Noodle, for making this beautiful music. Thank you Jamie, for showing me that you can do anything and go anywhere with your artwork. Thank you Gorillaz for showing me that being yourself is nothing to be scared of, because I was scared to show myself, until three weeks ago. I feel so much better now letting this all out. ok i know literally no one asked but I first listened to Gorillaz when I was 4 years old. My mom played it on her ipod and the radio she loved them! We were going through a pretty rough time and I just remember listening to Gorillaz and their music making me happy id always used to dance to dare and say, ¨Mom play the song with the monkeys!¨ Fast foward to 6th grade I learned about them again by a friend.I just totally forgot about them ,once I started listening again I just had such a beautiful connection with their music. I was so obsessed, the characters on my mind 24/7 & not to mention Gorillaz is the reason why I started drawing and my art.Now 3 years later, I am a freshman in high school! I have seen them in concert once and I have so much merch lol. Gorillaz used to be the only thing I listened to, now I listen to a bunch of stuff so tonight I went back into all their music and oh my god. I have never loved a band so much!! Gorillaz will always have a special place in my little heart. :) Just listening to this song is bringing tears to my eyes.

Started listening to gorillaz again. Still have the CD for plastic beach and I decided to play it in my car. Man, once this song came on, all the memories unlocked. This song is the reason why this was one of my favorite albums. Driving to this song while the sun was setting, pasting by old stamping grounds, everything. I was in middle school when this came out and now I’m 25. I hate the job that work I work at, I’ve been down at times and I just look for ways that bring me back to 2010. When things were simple. I wish can go back to those days.
@cipah10247 жыл бұрын
The song begins and I am transported to a lone rowing boat out on the still waters. There is no land all around and I simply sit and relax, watching the small white sail catch the gentle winds and whisk me off to wherever. Then, suddenly, a volley of hailstone rains down and obfuscates my vision. Once visual clarity is restored, I am in the bowels of some living machine. I hear its roars and groans as it pumps away, its certainty in its function clearly contrasting with my bewildered confusion. The utter confidence it has in the purpose of its existence makes me question my own. I look up and glimpse the clear skies I had seen on my little boat. I imagine flying free from this machine I have lost myself in and finding some purpose in the open air. Then the song ends and I go downstairs to get a drink or something.
