I love how the plastic beach era tried desperately to go with the whole “boat aesthetic” for their live performances. We’re never getting another era like this again for the gorillaz. I miss this era so much.

This was always one of my favorite tracks of there's. I was thrilled to see they decided to play it throughout the touring. Sounds so great live.

Despite the lame crowd, this is seriously one of the best live performances I have ever seen from any band.

Best band ever, it's not just that their music is amazing, it's that every fucking thing about them is amazing.

well the back story of why they show their faces is that the "human" band is the gorillaz live performance band and that murdoc just writes the music and records the studio versions with noodle, 2D, and russell on plastic beach, that's why in the 2D indent for plastic beach it shows him being kidnapped and sent to plastic beach because murdoc wanted to record a new album (plastic beach). It's just nice that they're keeping the animated gorillaz alive.

@wafflekitty11 The old guy playing the guitar is Mick Jones, the guitarist for the Clash.

Personally, I prefer this version. The lyrics are much more...I don't even know. It's just more badass.

@dongeros8 Well, the bassist and perhaps the guitarist, both former Clash gods, have been playing as the live band since beginning (I'm 100% on the bassist, not so much on the guitarist)... so in a sense, they're also members. I don't know about the composing and recording exactly though, but I doubt Albarn writes every bass line and guitar part, let alone plays them all.

He wrote the song. The "real" lyrics are whatever he wants them to be. Maybe he wishes he could have changed the original version, or maybe these lyrics are an alternate version, like a demo, that didn't make the cut, and he wants the world to hear.
