I used to teach ear training at a Conservatorium and I would get my students to transcribe the baseline and the rhythm of the first rap section. It was always good value watching a room full of classical violinists figuring out the best way to write the rhythm for “line ‘em all up like a$$-crack”. Good times...

I've been watching all of the Gorillaz music videos today, and...well, for about five years now I almost disregarded the Gorillaz and pretty much stopped listening to their music besides Plastic Beach (which has been one of my favorite music albums since it was released). So basically, I got bored of the Gorillaz because I'd been listening to them since 2005 when I was 5-6 years old. Yet, after going back to their music videos and just generally engaging myself in all of their music, I've come to realize now why I loved their music so much back when I was 5-6 years old. These songs really are great, and I think I'll be appreciating the Gorillaz, from first album to last album, more from now on, like I did when I first listened to them. And what a better time, considering that the next album will be released soon.
