I love how this is ABSOLUTELY a throwback to their first self-titled album. Now only are the sounds more early late 1990s to 2000s, Humility sounding a lot like 19-2000 which I love. THIS reminds me a lot of Left Hand Suzuki Method for it's simplicity. Then there's ACE being the new bassist takes back into that time in physical form. It's like Jamie and Damon took all the "feedback" from the fans from the last album and doubled down on this new one, like "hey, alright you want the classic Gorillaz sound? Here you go, we can still do it". And I'm so damn happy about it.

Honestly I disagree with you 95%. OG Gorillaz was grungy with a little funk mixed in. The two comparisons you made were inaccurate in my opinions. These songs are watered down versions of the ones you mentioned. However, they are good in their own right. This feels more like Plastic Beach and Humanz had a baby. Like a...Human Beach.

and that's fine. It's what I personally thought and we all have different opinions. I can respect that. I only mentioned that those two songs reminded me of the respective songs I mentioned, not complete remakes of the old. And you're right that there's more elements from Plastic Beach here than Self-titled, but the FEEL of these songs didn't, personally, bring me back to Plastic Beach. They brought me back to 19-2000 and Left Hand Suzuki Method.

pay attention. will be 4 albums. One for each member of Gorillaz. Humanz for Noodle, The Now Now for 2-D and they will have two more for Russel and Murdoc! After saying that there are more than 60 songs ready, from the cover of Humanz be the Noodle and the recent interview that Damon gave saying that The Now Now will be the vision of 2-D for me there is a big chance to get two more albums after that !

Everything about this song reminds me of Glitter Freeze all the way back from Plastic Beach... The aesthetics (Glitter Freeze always gave me a 'pink' aesthetic to it whenever I listened to it.) - The sound. - The random voice in the middle of the song. - The fact that it's practically an instrumental track outside of that one voice Interlude. This feels like an evolution of Glitter Freeze to me, and I bloody love it.

That's what I like about Gorillaz. Even if they go in a direction I'm not as big a fan of, at least they're always trying new things instead of playing it safe or riding off past success.

In fact this is their 8th album, they have been releasing one album a year after the main release, which in this case was Humanz, the first was G-Sides (with Gorillaz), then D-Sides (with Demon Days) and finaly The Fall (with Plastic Beach), now is time for The Now Now to shine on this year

Abraham G-Sides and D-Sides weren’t really albums though. They were just a collection of all the b side tracks from the singles. The Now Now is just their 6th studio album.

Yurick's Channel but although they are compilations, the songs on those albums can shine as their own (and actually I can tell Hong Kong or Ghost Train are big fan favorites) and a lot of people on the fandom we consider them to be albums too

Why WasIBorn I think this is still phase 4. We’ve gotten very little story with Humanz and that album was only released last year. I think this is just a continuation of phase 4 kind of like how The Fall is still considered part of Phase 3

Well, I love Humanz, it's still fresh in my mind, but considering the fan reaction to these tracks, I'm happy that fans are being happy with the new music for once that way I don't have to defend it like the fanboy I am. But his album is gonna top Humanz, as much as I love it, it had WAY too many features. I'm glad our blue-haired boy is getting attention.
