A lot of people have experienced things that happen in this video all in their own way. Having a place that you love and makes you happy be destroyed and disappear or just change beyond recognition. It's sad, but we have to keep moving on.

Aside from this song being a simple and effective masterpiece, this video is the perfect metaphoric illustration of the lyrics - the reluctant and horrific ending of a deep relationship. She is in her own paradise in the clouds, when all of a sudden the world attacks and she has no defense. Her paradise is set ablaze until it is unrecognizable, unsustainable. Everything she cherished has been destroyed and she is forced to watch, defeated, as it all comes crashing down into oblivion. The Goriilaz are true artistic genius on so many levels.

My sister passed away two days ago. We both loved listening to gorillas. I dedicate this song to her.

I first heard demon days when I was about three, and this song was so special. My dad first showed me and my sister this song, and we loved it. I used to have a little speaker to play music to help me go to sleep, and this would always play every night. I loved it, it was calm, but really sad. Listening to it now makes me miss how happy I was back then, and how I didn’t need to worry about anything. Both gorillaz and blur mean so much to me, thanks Damon.

Demon Days is the best Gorillaz album so far. So many songs that defined the "band" appeared on the album.

Why anyone would want to destroy such a beautiful floating anomaly is beyond comprehension.. Still baffles me to this day.

I'm 11, I found out about gorillaz when my dad turned on feel good inc. in the car, Gorillaz is still my favorite band. now I have a lot of problems that are not comparable with my age, thanks to this group, it is easier for me to cope with them, especially considering that we live in Russia, where there are a lot of sanctions now:(

Ok, let me explain this: Murdoc wanted to do the last Demon Days video, El Mañana. So he had a plan: some time ago, he had a friend called Jimmy Manson. He wanted to be the guitarrist of the band, but Noodle came first. And Jimmy was upset about this. So Murdoc's plan was to kill him for once. So he told Noodle to do the video, which was very dangerous to make and it was only one take, and if she made it, she could do everything she wanted. So Noodle acepted. Murdoc hired an expert pilot telling him to do these things very carefully. Also he called Jimmy Manson saying that he would hide in the windmill with a gun, so that when the windmill would fall, he should kill Noodle and join the band. Jimmy accepted. So the video is a continuation of Feel Good Inc. After that, the helicopters come. They give Noodle some time to escape and they start shooting, while Jimmy is in the windmill. By the end of the video, Jimmy is about to kill Noodle when he notice that he's stuck. When the windmill falls, Noodle jumps in a parachute (which is not seen on screen, but is confirmed by a picture in Rise of the Ogre) and Murdoc, with the Jimmy Manson issue solved, launches a bomb in the windmill. In Plastic Beach, Noodle wears a cat mask because of the damage caused by the making of this video.

I have always interpreted this video as a metaphor that each of us has our own floating island in our heads that is being "bombarded" by the cruel reality

i feel almost physical pain because of this video. the part where noodle screams in fear breaks my heart every time. and even though i know she survived and was okay, i can never let go of this feeling of pain for the little defenseless noodle who was just enjoying life and didn't do anything bad. and maybe this will sound weird, but i swear, no music video has ever made me feel this way. maybe the music has a role in my perception too, but either way, i will never be able to forget that moment when i watched this for the first time with tears in my eyes and felt so much compassion for the drawn character...

3:24 The cinematics in this scene made me think of a theory. If you look to the right of the screen, you’ll see Noodles guitar case fly past, but no guitar. Noodle, somehow, saved that guitar, as we see in the On Melancholy Hill music video, when she gets in the raft. I think that it’s supposed to represent how Murdoc made Cyborg noodle, and it seemed like something was missing from the band (I.E the guitar) Noodles guitar is supposed to represent her, and the guitar case is supposed to represent cyborg noodle, because cases are often the shape of the instrument, but are conceptually useless when it comes to playing the actual instrument. Noodle being lost was like taking the guitar case and trying to play the guitar. You can’t capture the actual sound. Meanwhile, Noodle has kept her guitar, meaning her sense of music and instrument, which was the only thing attaching her to the band. Instead of Cyborg noodle having the music, it was the real Noodle. Another thing I noticed was at 1:27, you can hear a guitar riff play as the helicopters propellers crash into the windmill, but at 2:27, you don’t hear it. I think this loosely connects to the theory I just previously mentioned. This whole video is about Noodle, and Murdocs carelessness that seemingly got her killed. I think the lack of the riff in the second chorus is Noodle abandoning Murdoc and the band as a protest to her near death experience. A sort of revenge in my opinion. Although this could just be completely wrong, seeing as the songs were made before the music videos, but it’s just interesting to speculate.

Is it just me or is this song immensely depressing? I mean, if it were a live actor doing it you would just say "Oh that's totally faked" but seeing as its a cartoon world in which anything can happen makes be situation depicted that much more serious and heartfelt.
