For anyone who didn't know, each song on this album was made in one day (one day per song) in a huge tour around the U.S. Not to mention all of it was created using only an iPad. Absolutely nuts

For some reason I can't help but picture a movie ending with this song as the protagonist walks off into the wasteland in a long shot until they're out of focus. This is why I love Gorillaz, I can build entire movies and books around each song. That's not good music. That's masterful music.

@@SebzZomeI unironically cannot think of a better setting to a FallOut game than Amarillo. Have a New Republic of Texas holding off whatever new threat you have set against a backdrop of Route 66, a nuclear weapons plant (currently dismantling them IRL) and an airforce base with secret tunnels (now all civilian IRL) You also have trains and cattle. And more cowboys. It'd be the best game to add in horses and motorcycles or add back cars.

This is arguably one of, if not Damon's most beautiful compositions. An instrumental that cries of better days gone by and the foreboding isolation of what's to come, accompanied by lyrics very much in the same vein. Just an amazing track.

It's also the most accurate recreation of Amarillo I've ever heard. It's a crossroad city, with unending trains. It's a melancholy place where the roads sing like sirens, pulling lost travellers out, only to force them to return. It's own history books refer to it as a wasteland. I've seen inmates panic, near to tears, as they find out it doesn't even have an HEB.

Tony Blanco Murdoc was awful to 2-D during phase 3, I think it’s the worst he’s ever treated him. He beat him and kept him locked in an underground cellar with a huge window looking at a whale (one of 2-D’s biggest fears at the time).

The pain that Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett went through during this can be felt too. This was supposed to be the last Gorillaz album, as Damon and Jamie had a falling out over money disputes and the fact that EMI dropped their Rhinestone Eyes video for the Doncamatic single.

It's because this was a very sly and quick project put out for free to the fans the same year Plastic Beach was released. It was never really intended to be a full-on album and more of a time capsule of the feelings Damon was having and his confusion about the state of himself and the band throughout the US leg of the Plastic Beach tour - with most of the songs being produced in a single day and named after the place they were made in. Like a diary. Not a full blown album.

I remember them coming through here, all those years ago. I never got the chance to see them, but they recreated it so well. Amarillo has been in more songs than almost any other city, yet this is the most accurate, right down to it being a cross roads, and the non-stop beating of the trains. The whole thing is set to the timing of an old steam engine. You can ever hear the cars in the background on their way to the mountains.
@arkiswatching69911 ай бұрын
I can honestly imagine a music video for this: Start with a black and white, steamboat willie style animation of 2D on a train, happy face on the train, dumbo style whistle and everything animated to look explicitly like its on the projector screen, as soon as 0:14 hits the scene burns out rapidly to show 2D looking horrified among broken train parts, staring out at a wasteland. After morsels walking through the wastes, staring at various scenes of destroyed architecture and the horrors of the post apocalypse. At about 2:26 he's sat down, staring at the ground, depressed when a hand comes out in front of him, offering it to him, he looks up and its a man, silhouetted against the sun, dressed like a cowboy, at the man lifts his head we see under the hat its murdoc, with a shit eating grin. We see 2D go from horror to rage and he lunges for him. Only to cut to 2Ds eyes opening, at the bottom of plastic beach. He looks over at the window to see the whale's huge eye staring at him, causing him to recoil into the corner before it swims away, and the final scene is just 2D with his head in his hands, weeping silently.

I listened to it when I was heartbroken, life goes on and makes you indifferent to those things, but that doesn't mean you forget it. Time never heals

Beautiful and sobering comment in the same time.. Broke up with a girl, with whom I was 4 years. She cheated on me few months, into our relationship. I forgave her, and moved on. After 3 more years, I've decided to quit it, since I kept being suspicious about certain things she did throughout our 4 years and I didn't wanna blame her for no reason, "just because I have thoughts in my head, bc of previous cheating". I remember her words, during breakup "is it bc you found someone else Alex?" and "thanks for leaving me in my most difficult period" "i'll make a new insta, can't keep the old one, it reminds me of you". Well... 3 months after our breakup, naturally, I started missing her.. 4 years are not a joke. I found out for her new insta and boy oh boy.. Turns out, my baby boo had her new profile MONTHS prior to our breakup and ofc on that profile bunch of her pics with boys hitting on her.. Now, why did I wrote all the this? Because your comment hit me hard.. It is true.. I did moved on with my life, but time never healed anything.. I still, even after all that she has done to me, miss her here and there, like now, when I came to listen to this gem. Life can be strange sometimes, eh? If you read all of this, I sincerly thank you and wish you best in your future endevours. ~Alex

The only reason why The Fall didn't get "Famous" it's because this album doesn't have a "Musical Video" On it, In my opinion, this is my favorite album from Gorillaz, Cause if you compare the music with the other ones, it's a pretty good album.
