That's adorable how Noodle makes Russ smile. Tbh I kinda see them all as a little family, 2D is protective and caring for Noodle like a brother, Russel protects them (objectively) from Murdoc like a dad-friend, and Murdoc is just like the weird uncle or something.

i love how after noodle ducks from the pirates at 2:03, even with russ’s white eyes, you can tell he looked right at her, as if to see if she’s alright. then she gives him a head nod, kind of as a way of reassuring him, like “yeah, i’m okay” and he smiles and goes back to looking at the camera like normal. even with subtle moments like those, you can tell russ truly cares about her

I love how in 2:10 is the only time I've seen Russ smiling and it'll probably be the only time we see it

I wish Russel had more love from fans because he is like a good guardian to Noodle ever since the start. Also I feel like Noodle had some major scary flashbacks on 2:58 and if you see closely Russel's eyes widen then leading him giving Noodle a smile as a way of him saying that everything is okay because she's not alone anymore.

I'd like to point out that there is over 4.5 million views on an animated video of a giant black man in the sea with a small girl in his hand dancing to a recording of live music.

Its kind of sad. Like seeing DARE and Noodle being so happy and dancing to her hearts content and being wild and *happy*, and then seeing this, in which she' s scared and awkward and needs Russel's support and she's holding her hands behind her back and wearing a mask--- someone help this poor girl.

this is, without a doubt, the best live performance i’ve ever heard. the vocals sound so much more passionate and heartfelt, and the addition of the trumpets is just pure bliss. easily my favorite song by them.

I really love how Russel and 2-D (and even Murdoc in his own twisted way) care about Noodle. Russel saves her in his way towards Plastic Beach and literally "gives a hand" to her at this video, and you can see 2-D checking on her at the DoYaThing video. Murdoc, on the other hand, could be considered the responsible for her injuries in La Mañana, but in reality his plan was to save her. Can't really blame them tho. I, too, would be super-protective of a cute sister-like girl in my band :D

I don't know why but Noodle's situation in the events following up to Plastic Beach reminds me of this crisis that occurred in the 2010s in the UK. There was this war going on in a country that a lot of British children were living in at the time. They had this charity called "Save the Children". I could be remembering things incorrectly but basically there was literal bombings going on in the country and a lot of kids were separated from their parents and they lived lives like Noodle where they were on their own in a active war zone and they kind of had to mature faster than a normal kid would if they wanted to survive.

I dont even know where to start... since im older now and look more at the animation I see all the small little details! How gently Russel holds Noodle, how he always stretches his arm and hand more out when its her turn to play and how he pulls it back again when she is done. How patently Noodle waits the whole time.... Its all so soft and delicate! Such a simple video and yet it holds so much onto it! Im still in love with it, even after 10 years!

This is the best gorillaz song BY FAR. As much as i love the fast rap sections and electric sounds of most Gorrilaz songs, this is so much more powerful and raw. This song is so incredibly magical and every time i hear it i just feel so incredibly happy and proud for myself for being alive. This song gives off the same final climactic and melancholy vibe as starman by David Bowie or my way by frank sinatra. It's so incredibly unique compared to all other gorillaz songs and is probably one of my favorite songs ever, if you can I highly recommend listening to this song on a relatively high volume with some high quality headphones, its really incredible.
