I visited Hong Kong two years ago and I remember listening to this on the bus that goes up Victoria's Peak and just feeling it was the perfect soundtrack for that moment, with the view of the city full of buildings and skyscrapers. Verse 1: 2-D] Oh, joys arise The sun has come again to hold you Sailing out the doldrums of the week The polyphonic prayer is here, it's all around you It's all around you, out here [Bridge: 2-D] And if the whole world is crashing down (on you) Fall through space out of mind with me [Verse 2: 2-D] Where the emptiness we leave behind on warm air rising Blows all the shadows far away The falling of the whole empire, is here to hold you Rolling out and haunted till it sleeps [Hook: Yukimi Nagano] Little memories, marching on Your little feet, working the machines Say will it spin, will it soar My little dream, working the machine Soon like a wave Empires will fall And closing in on you They're going on Little memories Your little feet, working the machines Say will it spin, will it soar My little dream, working the machine Soon like a wave Empires will fall Closing in on you They're going on

I guess what I'm trying to say is that... This is a masterpiece. Forever, my favorite song.

when i was about 11 or 12, i was given a non-graded assignment in school to present a song to the class and talk about it for a few minutes. i chose this song. i loved empire ants SO MUCH back then and to this day i still love it so much. all my classmates watching me present looked so confused and uninterested as they didn't know this song and thought i presented something "weird" or "obscure". even my music teacher looked unamused? i do NOT regret it though. everyone else brought in mainstream music of the time (2016/17) whilst i introduced all these kids to a BANGER. i hope they're all listening to gorillaz now. kinda random but thought i'd share this anyway :)

This song will never stop delivering the most of love and soul that went into developing these characters. It reflects on the whole journey in such a bittersweet way. Even when Gorillaz eventually dies out, Empire Ants will live on forever along with other masterpieces under the band's hood. Truly mindblowing.

"Empires will fall" It always hurts to hear. I never thought the "empire " i had would ever disappear, i was too in-the-moment to care. And when it did fall it was slow at first then it left in a chaotic boom. Gone when i needed it the most. I thought it would stay forever, never realizing i was growing older and out of it each day, but even when i saw the signs i convinced myself everything was fine. I thought i was immune to change, but time made me say "I've had enough, thank you" to the only comfort i had, and i want to ask God why. Basically every moment you experience is lost to history. Gone, only a memory, no going back. Remember this while you are at your highs, and maybe lows as well. Nothing is forever. I'm gonna go and reminisce on my own in the corner now.
@user-mz2yh6qz7y4 жыл бұрын
@Sandro i lost. It wasn't one particular thing but a mix. My mindset, the ppl i knew, the things i was doing all completely changed. Like living was just different. Back then i had a net or an escape for anytime i felt down, but now it's all gone and it feels like hell. Best metaphor i can give would be like strolling through the remains of a long gone civilisation. Going through the metaphorical 'streets' knowing how alive and exciting the place used to be. Like a truly great place that once was. But now it's just ruins and i'm trying to rebuild and reach that level of greatness again but i'm frustrated i'm cos i'm not getting anywhere and a lot of other things are starting to eat at my soul as well now

The first time I ever listened to this song I had just started reading 'One Hundred Years of Solitude' by Gabriel Garcia Marquez, and I must have played this song on repeat at least 20 times. So now every time I hear this song I picture a hot and humid summers afternoon, resting upon a chair on a patio in some villa in Macondo, the sun streaming through the trees and fresh fruit piled up high on a kitchen bench and rotting on the streets. Interesting how music can do that, even though this song and the book have little tangible thematic similarities lol.

Oh joy's arise The sun has come again to hold you Sailing out the doldrums of the whole week The polyphonic prairies here, it's all around you It's all around you, out here And if the whole world is crashing down Fall through space out of mind again Where the emptiness we leave behind on warm air rising Blows all the shadows far away The falling alcohol empire, is here to hold you Rolling out and haunted 'til it sleeps Little memories, marching on Your little feet, working the machine Will it spin, will it soar My little dream, working the machine Soon like a wave that pass will fall And closing in on you they're going on Little memories Your little feet, working the machine Will it spin, will it soar My little dream, working the machine Soon like a wave that pass will fall And closing in on you they're going on shotouts from Argentina..

Today I realise this is my favorite song ever. I always love this song with my soul, but I thought that one day it was going to lose it's magic. Today I listened after a long time without listen and it feels the same way as always. I feel it's intensity all over my body, everytime my eyes fills with humble tears, is kind of painful and holy at the same time, and that moment when the first part ends and the second one comes in a crescendo, fuck, I have to stop anything that I am doing to live that moment with all my senses. Thank you, Gorillaz and Little Dragon, for this heavenly therapy.
