I think it’s a good mix of Damon Albarn’s unique smooth raspy voice and vocal tuning. Most people know “Song 2” by Blur so there’s a lot of familiarity there As well as them being adaptable to change and different genres to keep things fresh but nostalgic. Bitta soul

that background voice at the minute 3:48 gives it the touch and is reminiscent of The Now Now (2018), more specifically the song Lake Zurich excellent job from gorillaz going back to the past to sound this good in the present. awesome song

When Song Machine came out, it beat The Now Now as my favorite. And now Cracker Island is going to do the same (aaaagh why didnt they just call it The Last Cult or something im still not a fan of the album name tbh lmao)

Somehow they’re constantly experimenting with different sounds and genres, every song sounds different and unique, and yet you can tell that it’s a Gorillaz song. They’re so incredible for that, idk how they do it!

Gorillaz have really have me an escape from reality this past album, especially this song. I am worried that doing the right thing might have killed off a few friendships with amazing people and for the first time today I was able to just forget about it for a second and smile. It’s been a hard year so far and every day of the year I keep in saying it will get better but it always turns out worse the more optimistic I am.

Listening to this Song feels like in in a sorta of Timelapse. i could "see" the beginnings of the band and i had some flashes from previous songs. from the times when Noodle was still Little and Murdoc less green, from then to now. It reminded me why i love this band, why I love Gorillaz.

I am a college sophomore and had a few rough patches occur. This song has made me look back at how far I've come. Now I have a better group of friends and doing better than I did in my fall semester. Thank you Damon and the people who have helped Gorillaz continue to thrive amazingly! 😁

This song has that excellent balance between knowing you've been weighed down by your personal situations but finding the momentum to get to a better place. It doesn't fall blindly into sensations of desire or hope or love or lust bc perhaps thats what brought you down in the first place. Rather I think this song is cautious in depicting that moment where you've overcome despair, that unexplainable moment When someone comes into or something happens in your life and before you realise it, your whole thought process changes. I love how the song is structured to correlate the repetition of the melody/chorus with our own thoughts of longing we have circling inside our heads, whistling to the tune, while simultaneously fitting it in with the Gorillaz lore of putting everything that happened up to Plastic Beach behind them.
