Gorillaz, I know you might not but I really really hope you see this. No joke, I’ve been listening to you guys since I was a baby. Before I was born my dad (one of your biggest fans) would play GORILLAZ and Demon Days for me and continued to do so as I grew up. I have fond memories of cleaning the house with ny dad when my mom was at the store, blasting your albums on the stereo whilst my dad spent hours singing along with me and meticulously explaining to me the meanings behind Fire Coming Out of a Monkey’s Head and El Manana. I grew up dancing and singing along to your music all my life. When I turned 13 I saved up all my birthday money from the past few years and bought my own stereo for $300. Every single year since I’ve collected your CDs and asked for them as gifts. I’ve memorized every single lyric to every single song, memorized every single song in order of how it appears on each album. Your CDs are segregated from my Dad’s other CD’s he passed down to me on their own side of the shelf above my stereo and next to my turantula Meriweather’s enclose. Every single year that I got a new CD of yours I would stay up late, sitting in front of the stereo and listening to your songs while reading the pamphlets in the CD covers for each song. I’ve got the tshirts, the CDs, the stereo… everything. Gorillaz, you BUILT my childhood. One last thing. I feel like your music is a lot more to me than just good sound. You’re my childhood, my joy, what licked me up in my darkest moments and what I danced to in my happiest. The song I broke my toe to because I danced a little too hard. And lastly, you’re the music that taught me to think about the lyrics, the beat and the massage of music and what connected me so much to my dad growing up. Up On Meloncoly Hill and Pirate Jet made me cry when my dad battled cancer at the same time that my mom, grandma and grandpa all were at the exact same time too, all different causes. Breast, Thyroid, Skin, Tongue and throat- if it isn’t too hard to believe my dog died of throat cancer just two years before and we’ve had a cat with leucemia for 4 years. All this cancer and you guys helped me get through it and remain connected to my dad when he was going through risky surgeries and radiation. I can’t even begin to thank you guys enough for all you’ve done for me and my family. I’m now 18 and I’m still your number one fan. Love you guys, thanks so much. -Syd

I have NEVER seen american bands joking around with fans in comment sections like this, makes me respect you guys that much more and guarantees even more that I'll be a lifelong fan. Great music, love the alter universe thing and lots of your collabs. Don't ever break up or stop making music, Gorillaz are legends!

I just love how much love and exposure Gorillaz has given to black artists. And these last two albums have been a real pleasure to listen to because of the collabs
