Damon has mentioned that he rewrote the lyrics of few of the "Song Machine" songs to reflect the new reality of the world once covid-19 and the lockdown hit. He never said which ones were specifically the rewritten ones, but this has GOT to be one of them because I see "isolation," "lockdown," "loneliness," and "sadness" vibes throughout this tune.

Here’s what I’d recommend if you’re interested in catching up: Listen to all of Humanz up until “Sex Murder Party,” after that the quality of the album severely drops off, however everything before that is very strong. The Now Now basically has Tranz and Humility if you’re feeling it, but the rest of it is pretty mediocre. And then, all of the Song Machine Songs have been pretty good, I’d listen to all of them.

yesterday my girlfriend told me that this song reminds her of me while we were listening to it together. this is my first time getting associated with a romantic song - i used to think that i didnt even want such things because i didnt have anyone important like her in my life before, and therefore all my relationships felt like i was getting dragged along as a tool and i didnt understand why everyone was so obsessed with them. but after i realised she was worth staying for, and after i got over my anxiety of the possibility of losing the first true reason to stay alive and smile ive had in several years, hearing that she thinks of me when a beautiful song like this comes up makes me even more sure that i chose the right person to love. im hoping to spend my whole life by her side.
